Become An Election Worker
The Smith County Democratic Party is regularly seeking additional Democratic Elections Workers for the annual schedule of General Elections, Primaries, Runoffs, Municipal Elections and Constitutional Amendment Elections, including the Early Voting polling places and the Ballot Board. These are paid positions (currently $10 to $12 per hour) and are vital to conducting fair and free elections! Information on the upcoming elections can be seen at https://www.smith-county.com/government/departments/elections/current-election-information.
Smith County has implemented countywide voting, so there may be as many as 6 Early Voting locations around the County and 35 Election Day locations for each election, with at least one Democratic Election Judge and one Democratic Election Clerk needed to staff each location along with an equal number of Republican workers. Some of the busier locations require as many as 4 clerks assisting the Judges. Election Judges preside over election polling place activities and enforce election law. Election Clerks help the Judge administer polling site activities. Training and support will be provided for each worker.
If you are able to work a long (about 13 hour) day, can learn to use the polling equipment, and are comfortable dealing with a wide variety of people, please respond by completing the interest form available HERE.
